Copyright materials and linking

I am fully aware of the Mylivepage policy regarding publishing of copyright materials, and I have seen a number os mylivepage sites disabled for having copyright materials on their sites. I have also read the Terms of Service and the Report Violation/Abuse pages. I have seen no mention of linking to copyright materials, although their is mention of linking to illegal materials.

My question is, is it permissible to link to other sites which possibly contain copyright materials? I mean even Google does this, and mylivepage carries Google advertising. Or if direct linking is not allowed, can I give broken links (not in the links section, but in the forum)? By broken links I mean using hxxp instead of http (Google doesn't bother with this nicety).
